Aquarium fish deserve a nutritious, varied diet too! Mealworms are an excellent way to diversify and become more involved in what you feed your fish. Most any aquarium fish can and will eat mealworms, however the species with larger mouths, like cichlids, may have an easier time consuming mealworms as food. Other fish like guppies, mollies, tetras, bettas, etc. can also eat mealworms, but may have an easier time with very young mealworms that are only about 1/4" long. Mealworms should only be fed as fast and as often as your fish can consume them.

Keeping Mealworms as Feeders
Mealworms can be kept in the refrigerator to extend the amount of time they remain in a larval state. Quite often the container they arrive in is sufficient, however for larger quantities you may want to provide a slightly larger container. Fill the container with 1"-2" of oats, and provide a slice of apple or carrot. Mealworms can be kept for several weeks this way. In the fridge they won't eat much, but refresh the apple/carrot as necessary.
